For the fourth consecutive day the hospitalizations recorded a decline: intensive care units drop by 57 units (yesterday -28) with 100 admissions of the day, and are 1,265 total, while ordinary hospitalizations are 530 less (yesterday -578), for a total of 16,824 in all, according to what emerges from the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, the Omicron variant represents the almost all cases registered in Italy, according to the latest data updated as of January 31 (and released today). This can be read in the latest flash survey conducted by the ISS and the Ministry of Health, together with the regional laboratories and the Bruno Kessler Foundation. The estimated prevalence of Omicron was 99.1%, with regional variability between 95% and 100%. The Delta variant, on the other hand, was 0.9%. From the previous study, relative to January 17, it was found that Omicron was 95.8% of cases and Delta 4.2%. All regions and autonomous provinces participated in the rapid search and was based on 2,289 samples analyzed in 122 laboratories.

Based on data from the control room on the progress of the Covid situation, the region Sicily returns to the yellow zone starting from next Monday after two weeks spent in the orange zone, while the Molise changes from white to yellow zone. “Considering the progress of the pandemic, the curve continues to decrease“, said the president of the National Institute of Health and spokesperson for the Technical Scientific Committee (CTS) Silvio Brusaferro. “The data in the period 4-10 February show an incidence equal to 962 cases, over seven days, per 100 thousand inhabitants,” she explained.
