For lack of a complete vaccination schedule, many caregivers were suspended from their duties during the health crisis linked to Covid-19. The Minister of Health has finally announced their reinstatement in “mid-May”.

They are nurses, caregivers, paramedics, but also retirement home staff, hospital workers or even firefighters. So many professionals who, for lack of a complete vaccination schedule, were unable to continue to carry out their missions and work in the establishments that employed them.

    A very minor phenomenon

At the heart of the health crisis, in 2021, they were suspended. “A very minority or even marginal phenomenon” for the ministry, which estimated in March the proportion of hospital workers still concerned “around 0.3%“. Ditto for liberal caregivers. Health Insurance counted less than 2,000 suspended caregivers in mid-March.

    A decree planned for mid-May

It will soon be ancient history, according to the statements of the Minister of Health. “These caregivers will be reinstated. In recent weeks, I have brought together all the stakeholders, because I want the reintegration to take place, but in good conditions”, announced the Minister of Health on the sidelines of a trip to the Marne, Friday, April 28. Words taken from the newspaper The Briard Country. François Braun foresees the publication of a decree to this effect in the coming days.

A decision following a favorable opinion from the HAS

The question of reintegrating unvaccinated caregivers has arisen several times since their suspension in 2021. This decision will finally be taken after the favorable opinion of the High Authority for Health, which considered it possible, at the end of March last, the lifting of the vaccination obligation against Covid-19 for caregivers and other professionals concerned. From now on, the Minister of Health wants to be careful. “The non-vaccinated are not necessarily expected with flowers in all departments and everywhere” also worries the minister, who plans a decree ready for mid-May.

The United States will lift on May 11 the obligation of vaccination against Covid-19 for federal public servants and international travelers arriving by air. This lifting of the vaccination obligation corresponds to the end of the state of health emergency declared by Washington, at the beginning of 2020.
