One-on-one visits with patients in the unit are allowed but visitors will be required to monitor daily for symptoms and wear personal protection equipment while in the unit, the hospital said.

The outbreak was declared in consultation with Lambton Public Health.

Bluewater Health currently has 10 COVID-positive patients, it said.

There are also outbreaks at retirement homes at Rosewood Village and Vision Rest Home, as well as a Community Living congregate living facility, and a respiratory outbreak at Watford Quality Care long-term care home is under investigation, according to Lambton Public Health’s online seasonal infectious diseases bulletin.

Lambton Public Health is reporting 183 confirmed local COVID cases so far this season, with one death and an average of three confirmed cases per day, as of Nov. 18.

Data on local respiratory virus activity has been impacted by the recent cyber attack against Bluewater Health and other hospitals in the region, the bulletin says.
