COVID 19 outbreak declared in hospital rehab unit

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared in the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s rehabilitation unit.

As of Tuesday, four health care-acquired cases of the virus were identified at the Chatham site. The hospital group’s medicine A and B units also remain in active outbreak.

Public health will work closely with the hospital to manage the outbreak and will continue to work in consultation until it is declared over, officials said in a release.

A number of additional initiatives have been implemented in response. The health alliance will continue following these measures until public health rescinds the outbreak order, hospital officials said.

The public is reminded the hospital remains a safe place to receive care, officials added. Anyone experiencing an emergent acute care need is urged to call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department.
