In an interview with our colleagues from Parisian, the Minister of Health François Braun returns to the epidemic of Covid-19. He wishes to recall the preventive measures, such as the isolation of positive people and warns of the arrival of a new wave.

The epidemic situation is “pretty quiet for three weeks” recognizes first of all François Braun in the columns of the Parisian. However, the Minister of Health deplores the slackening of the fight against Covid -19.

    A new wave soon?

Indeed for François Braun, the disease is still very present and this is what pushes him to remain cautious. For him, if all the indicators concerning the epidemic (contaminations and hospitalizations) are down, sooner or later “a new wave could arrive“.

The Covid-19 could well become a cyclic pathology, which returns regularly. This was already the point of view of the Scientific Council, which last July, in its last opinion, considered it likely that Covid would become a seasonal disease, with epidemic outbreaks, like other winter pathologies.

    Continue to get vaccinated

The Minister therefore wishes to recall that the rules on isolation for people who test positive still apply. It also indicates do “not at all (be) satisfied with the result of the autumn campaign. With only 10% vaccinated, we are very far from the target to be reached.” he explains, insisting that vaccination must continue.

    One death every 27 minutes

Moreover, François Braun says “that a person dies from Covid every ten minutes in France“.

According to our colleagues from France Info, this assertion is incorrect. Indeed, by performing a simple calculation based on the latest data from Public Health France, the result is one death, caused by Covid-19, every 27 minutes. Unless of course the Minister of Health relied on different data to establish his calculations.

What is certain, however, is that the epidemic continues. On November 14, Public Health France listed 27,000 new cases in seven days. That’s a third more than the week before.
