A Real Madrid player, for the first time, has spoken exclusively with an Arab media outlet. The protagonist has been Courtois and the graceful Captainwho has had the opportunity to talk with the goalkeeper about the debacle of the Clásico, the comeback against PSG, the Qatar 2022 World Cup and the possibility of Salah arriving in Spain. Thibaut has been self-critical in what 0-4 he respects and has been undone by telling everything he felt the night of the comeback against the PSG at the Bernabeu: “It was one of those nights in which I feel the luckiest to play for Real Madrid”.
Q: The season is being excellent, but it has a stain, that hard defeat against Barcelona by 0-4. What explanation do you find for what happened?
A: It was a very bad night, but we knew how to recover quickly, because you don’t have to think too much about losses. Though I’m still disappointed, of course.
What happened?
With the results we have and seeing our attitude both in the games before and after, I think it has become clear that it was a matter of chance.
Let’s talk about the comeback against PSG…
It was a wonderful dream. I am convinced that very few in the world were betting on it after the first part. Everything was against us. But we did it, and it was one of those many nights in which I feel the luckiest to play for Real Madrid.
You have played against Salah. What do you think of your season?
He is one of the best players in the world in the last decade. One of those footballers who is not only different, but also has magic.
Some fans put you, Salah and Benzema on the list of those who are signing great seasons… And last year they didn’t win individual awards. What do you think?
There are many players on the individual grand prix lists, but everyone in the world, including the stars, what really matters to them is winning titles with their teams.
Do you think it could be difficult for Salah to adapt to LaLiga?
There is no easy transition, although there are of course exceptions. There were good players in the Premier League and they knew how to do it when they moved to Spain, and vice versa. In my case, for example, adapting to Spain was not complicated by the fact that I came from England. I am sure that Salah could adapt to any of the five big leagues.
World Cup in Qatar 2022. Some say it is the last chance for the strongest generation Belgium…
Our goal is to fight to win it. We know that we have a good team, but we are talking about the World Cup, where the best go with their best. Whatever happens, it’s true, Belgium has one of the best teams in its history.
