Venezuelan authorities have received the go-ahead from a court for a request to arrest opposition presidential candidate Edmundo González.
The announcement comes just over a month after the disputed presidential election, which both the opposition and incumbent President Nicolás Maduro claim to have won.
At the same time, CNN reports that the US has seized Maduro’s plane in the Dominican Republic. The TV channel describes it as a marking on the part of the United States and an escalation where the United States continues to put pressure on the Venezuelan government.

There is a price war going on about the fat on the sandwich, according to Matpriskollen.
But on average, food prices were completely stagnant in August, and since the beginning of 2022, food has become 24 percent more expensive.
Some brands of plant-based margarine have had up to 25 percent price reductions at certain chains during August. According to Matpriskollen’s CEO Ulf Mazur, it seems to be a price war against animal-produced fat on the sandwich board.

A man in his 30s has alerted the police after being robbed and assaulted in Gothenburg.
He was refueling his gray BMW at Circle K at Eriksberg in Hisingen when two masked men attacked him.
They hit and kicked him – then they hijacked his car.
The man was taken to hospital with a fractured face and pain all over his body, the police write.
A man in his 70s has been arrested on suspicion of having fired shots in a villa.
“A man, who is known to the plaintiff, entered the plaintiff’s home in an unknown manner and then shot into the home. The perpetrator then fled the scene.”
– I cannot go into who is raising the alarm. But the plaintiff is a man in his 50s. He was alone in the home when this happened, says Katarina Rusin at the police in Syd.
The plaintiff was not hit by any shots and should not require hospital treatment.
The arrested man is in his 70s
– They know each other, but I don’t want to go into exactly how right now, says Katarina Rusin.
The man fled the scene but was arrested after a search of houses in the vicinity.

A 59-year-old man was arrested during the night of Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder of a 40-year-old man.
The crime took place at a residence in Ljungby municipality. It was the staff at the residence who raised the alarm when they discovered that the man had been stabbed with a sharp object by the other man.
– It’s about some kind of accommodation, I can’t say exactly what it is. The plaintiff has received some kind of stab wound and I don’t know how serious the injuries are, but we have the crime classified as attempted murder, says Magnus Lefèvre, officer on duty.
The hostages will return to Israel in coffins if the country continues with its military pressure, Hamas’s armed branch threatens, according to several media outlets.
According to Abu Obeida, spokesman for the al-Qassam Brigades, the Hamas members guarding the hostages in Gaza have received new instructions on what to do if Israeli forces approach their hideouts.
Abu Obeida does not elaborate on what the instructions include, but according to Israeli media they have been ordered to kill the hostages.
This weekend, six hostages were found dead in Gaza. According to Israel, they had been shot at close range with several shots.

At least 14 people have died in landslides and floods after a storm in the northern Philippines.

Czech police found 30 migrants, one of whom was dead, in a truck on a highway between Prague and the German city of Dresden on Monday.
A helicopter was called in to search for several of the people, who fled from the truck when it was stopped by the police. Later, the police at X stated that all had been found and taken into custody.
The deceased person, a woman in her 30s, was found unconscious in the truck.
“A doctor declared her dead after resuscitation attempts were made,” writes rescue workers at X.
The other people in the truck did not need hospital treatment, but were in “bad condition” according to the emergency services.
According to the police, it appeared that the migrants were on their way through the Czech Republic to another destination.

The announcement comes just over a month after the disputed presidential election, which both the opposition and incumbent President Nicolás Maduro claim to have won.
The prosecutor seeking the arrest warrant states several different charges against Gonzáles Urrutia: Among other things, conspiracy, falsification of documents and unjustified usurpation of power.
