Courchevel-Méribel World Ski Championships: Shiffrin in gold on the Giant, disappointment for Worley

Courchevel Meribel World Ski Championships Shiffrin in gold on the Giant

12 hundredths behind Mikaela Shiffrin at the end of the first run, the Frenchwoman Tessa Worley fell in Méribel in the giant. Mikaela Shiffrin she became world champion.

Tessa Worley, double world champion in giant slalom, could not repeat in Méribel, Thursday February 16, her performances from Schladming and Saint-Moritz in 2013 and 2017. The Frenchwoman fell during her passage during the second round. However, she had a chance of getting a medal, counted at 12 hundredths of Mikaela Shiffrin, the new winner. The American is the new world champion of the event. Federica Brignone and Ragnhild Mowinckel are in silver and bronze.

This race was perhaps the last chance to win a medal for the Auvergne. These World Championships are not over yet, of course. But the Annemassienne has never distinguished herself in the last remaining event, the slalom.

Mikaela Shiffrin with this victory, obtains her first title of world champion on the test of the giant. Previous medalist in silver and bronze, the skier now has all the medal colors in this discipline. This title settles in the logical continuation of its season. The American currently has 5 World Cup victories over the Giant. The same applies to the slalom which will be contested this Saturday February 18. She will start as the favorite and will try to add a third medal in these World Championships.
