Couple who lost 170 kilos in 2 years Our lives

Helen and Kieron Buxton, who lost a total of 170 kg in two years in England, told the BBC how they transformed their lives.

The Nothingham couple made the decision after Kieron Buxton was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.

Kieron Buxton was referred to a weight loss center by his doctor when he started to wear socks and shoes only with the help of his wife when he gained 190 kg.

“I’ve been overweight most of my life. I’ve always been a sedentary person. I wore 5XL shirts. They gave me extra belts on the plane. That was my life. I was used to it. Even being teased on the street,” says 50-year-old Buxton.

“A wound on my leg was not healing. When my doctor told me I had Type 2 diabetes, I decided to change my life. I was 190 kg at the time. Helen was wearing my socks and shoes.”

Buxton, who lost 123 kilos in two years, says he is free of diabetes and no longer takes any medication.

Kieron Buxton states that she loses weight with diet and exercise:

“I couldn’t even walk 100 steps. Now we walk 10,000 steps every day. Our lives have changed so much that we are in shock. If I hadn’t lost weight, I might not be alive today.”

Helen Buxton, 51, says: “I have had a weight problem since I was a child. I have tried to lose weight many times and have always been unsuccessful. I went to the weight loss center to support Kieron. In the meantime, I hoped to improve my own health.”

Helen Buxton also lost 50 kilos at the end of two years and dropped a size 9.

The couple says their friends are now unable to recognize them, as they were unable to go out during the coronavirus pandemic.
