The couple got stuck in customs at the Östersund Bridge on April 1 this year with 10.3 kilos of cocaine, worth a total of just over nine million kroner, writes South Sweden.
The man and the woman had told their relatives that they were going on a holiday but, according to the man, had been threatened by two men to get cocaine and smuggle it into the country. If the man refused, the men would hurt his family, he claims in interrogation.
The woman denies knowing at all the narcotics, which were packed in thick cookies wrapped in plastic, in a maple compartment behind the back seat of the car. The prosecutor, for his part, believes that the two carried out the smuggling together and in agreement.
When the police searched the house, several maps of tramadol and four grams of cocaine were found among the couple’s belongings.
The couple is now charged with particularly serious drug offenses and the punishment can be imprisonment for a minimum of six and a maximum of ten years.
