Couple met 8 years ago in Dota 2, now got engaged in front of hundreds of thousands of viewers

Dota 2 is widely considered to be one of the games with a particularly toxic community. Valve’s MOBA, of all things, brought about a touching moment: at the Berlin Major 2023 there was a marriage proposal.

What was that tournament? With the Berlin Major 2023, the second stop on the way to the Dota World Championship, the International, took place between May 5th and 7th.

The velodrome, where the finale of the Major took place, has a capacity of 12,000 and was completely sold out (via MOZ). However, the on-site viewers were joined by an average of 235,258 viewers who followed the final online via 4 streaming services. At the top, 507,620 people watched (via escharts.com).

However, two fans will probably not (only) remember the event because of the victory of Gaimin Gladiators over Team Liquid, which has just built an expensive gaming palace: They got engaged at the event.

Twitch streamer with only 1 viewer becomes famous through a kind gesture – This is her story

do you want to feed with me

How did the application come about? During a break between maps, commentator Neal Tsunami Khandheria was out in the audience asking fans about their impressions. Finally he stopped at a spectator and asked her what might happen at the event.

The spectator did not hesitate: a victory for her team, Liquid. In the background you can see her boyfriend getting on his knees next to her to propose to her:

We met in a pub 8 years ago [öffentlichen Lobby] met and started to feed together. I want to feed with you for the rest of my life, will you marry me?

How did the viewer react? She said yes, to the great enthusiasm of the audience. On Reddit, where a video of the special moment was shared, a user identified herself as the newly engaged and provided additional background information. We have included the post for you here, the video is in English.

According to the fiancee, her partner told her that there would be a raffle among the spectators present and that she therefore had to hold the fort. He brought something to drink himself. In truth, however, he met with Tsunami and planned the action. Half an hour of preparation time went into overcoming his fear of public speaking.

The newly fiancé took the opportunity on Reddit to thank everyone involved. This will probably be one of her most treasured memories. She’s also very happy to have the crucial moment on video, because when it happened her brain briefly shut down and she can hardly remember anything (via Reddit).

The commenter himself also chimed in, adding that he was also a bit nervous: he didn’t have a plan B in case the bride-to-be might say no. Luckily it didn’t come to that. The case of a CS:GO professional who proposed to his girlfriend after a spectacular tournament victory showed that even a yes can become a problem.

A public marriage proposal is always one of those things: Some people can hardly imagine anything more romantic, for others it is something that should rather be done privately. It becomes particularly uncomfortable when the chosen one then refuses in front of a large audience:
