A couple in their 50s is charged with blocking police cars during an ongoing car chase in Luleå municipality. To help them, they had a van and a wheel loader, local media reports.

The car chase occurred in mid-March this year, when the police were chasing a passenger car that did not want to stop. During the chase, the police car’s path was blocked by a wheel loader, forcing the police to swerve to avoid a crash.

“As we approach the intersection, I see the driver of the wheel loader looking in our direction. As the fleeing car passes the wheel loader, the wheel loader pulls out, still facing us, before turning its head and looking in the direction of the fleeing car. I put on the brakes but realize pretty quickly that we won’t have time to stop. I then choose to pull off in the ditch,” the police write about the operation, according to Norrbottens-Kuriren.

The wheel loader driver’s wife is also suspected of crime, as she is considered to have tried to block the road for another police car with the help of a van in connection with the car chase.

The man, who drove the wheel loader, is now charged with gross sabotage against blue light operations, attempted gross violence against an official and gross negligence in traffic. The woman is charged with sabotage against blue light operations.
