Coup in Niger Niameys oil ambitions threatened by sanctions

Niger has been under sanctions from ECOWAS countries for nine days. An economic blockade which prevents all trade with the countries of the West African bloc and which also affects oil exports, another financial windfall for Niamey. An oil pipeline project linking the oil-producing regions of the east with the port of Cotonou, in the south of Benin, is particularly threatened.
