General Tchiani, head of the Nigerien presidential guard, spoke on national television on July 28, 2023 as “president of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland”, a CNSP at the origin of an attempt to Rebellion. He justified this coup against President Mohamed Bazoum in particular by “the deterioration of the security situation” in the country.
