The Counter-Strike 2 beta only offered access to a few players. Now, some of the lucky ones are reporting being kicked off the servers.
With the big announcement of Counter-Strike 2, Valvele triggered a hype among players of the popular tactical shooter. Then the development studio started a test phase and many players hoped they would get access to the beta to test the revised version of the shooter.
Some even tweeted begging to be invited to the beta.
Now some players are suddenly reporting that they can no longer play.
CS2 asks players to disable the beta version
What are the players reporting? A post appeared on Reddit on May 3rd in which a user asked whether his access to CS2 had been revoked. He shared a screenshot with an in-game message: “Cannot start matchmaking because your client is running Counter-Strike Beta, please disable Counter-Strike Beta and start you new.”
The post received some attention on the Counter-Strike subreddit, garnering over 1,200 upvotes and 147 comments in one day.

Other users reported similar experiences in the comments on the post. One wrote, “I had the same error message yesterday (via Reddit).” Another user added that he and a friend felt the same way.
In addition, some players speculated that the test phase of Counter-Strike 2 was probably over and the servers were closed.
Is now the release of CS2 before? An early release of CS2 is unlikely according to the current status. There is no indication that a possible release of the CS:GO successor is in the starting blocks.
Even Valve has not yet commented on it and shared new, precise information. In the original announcement that Counter-Strike 2 will be released, Valve spoke of a release in summer 2023.
So it is quite possible that it could take a few more weeks or even months. First, the developers will likely analyze the learnings from the testing phase and address some bugs or issues.
