Counter-Strike 2 changes the most important function of the cult shooter – makes it easier to hit your opponents

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

A YouTuber has discovered a hidden change in Counter-Strike 2 that will help you hit your opponents.

Which function is it? Every shooter on the market has one thing in common: the hitbox is the game’s most important feature. Everything stands or falls with the hitbox – not just your opponents. Counter-Strike is no exception.

A hit zone that is problematic or not working as intended will greatly affect the fun of the game. For example, there is frustration when a hitbox doesn’t match the character model and doesn’t register a shot where it landed – like a headshot that supposedly went wide, or your opponent’s missed shot that was counted as a hit.

If a shooter has a hitbox that does everything right and keeps players happy, then again, it rarely gets adjusted. This differentiates the hit zone from other gameplay elements such as weapons, gadgets and maps, which receive balancing updates from time to time.

It is all the more unusual when a game’s hitbox is revised and changed. But CS:GO players have to be prepared for that, because with CS2 Valve is making changes to the hit zone of the cult shooter for the first time since 2018.

CS2 gives you a bigger head

How does Counter-Strike 2 change the hitbox? YouTuber “Ansimist” found out that CS2’s hitbox has been slightly adjusted compared to CS:GO (via Twitter).

According to Ansimist, all hitboxes are now in a capsule form, whereas previously the hands and feet were really in the form of a box. On top of that, all character models should now have the same size hitbox. For this purpose, the size of the hit zone has been changed in some areas.

The head hitbox is now said to be between 3.94% and 19.73% larger across the different models, while the neck is said to be between 13.52% and 28.55% smaller. The hitbox on the hands and knuckles has also been reduced.

How does this affect the game? Especially the enlarged hitbox on the head can have a big impact on the game, because in games like Counter-Strike it is mainly shot to the head.

Headshots are the quickest way to take out your opponents, and the change makes it easier to hit your opponents when aiming at the head in CS2.

CS2 is currently only playable for selected testers, but when the coveted update appears for everyone in the summer, it will have other adjustments in addition to the adapted hitbox.

Some of these changes, like the new smoke grenades and the revised maps, have been announced by Valve. But some adjustments are not noticed by everyone.

MeinMMO author Christos Tsogos therefore shows you 14 changes in CS2 that you probably haven’t noticed yet.
