Counter bid nobbed – care conflict close

The healthcare union refused a proposal for an agreement and countered with a new counteroffer on Wednesday evening.

Sweden’s Municipalities and Regions (SKR) and the employers’ organization Sobona have in turn rejected the counter-offer.

Pressured care in 2024

  • Magdalena Andersson (S) visited the emergency department in Växjö under pressure

  • Internal documents show: The rent freeze can lead to “infected social debate” and “closed health centers”

  • “Involves unreasonable costs”

“The nursing association’s counteroffer contains new and even more far-reaching demands than those that have been on the negotiating table before during both the parties’ negotiations and the mediation period,” says Ulf Olsson, chairman of SKR’s negotiating delegation and Sobona’s association board, in a statement that continues:

“It also means completely unreasonable cost increases, which means that SKR and Sobona say no to the offer”.

    Risk of blockage

If the parties cannot agree, an overtime and overtime blockade will come into effect at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday for approximately 63,000 members of the Health Care Association.

SKR and Sobona write that, with help from the mediators, they hope to be able to reach an agreement with Vårdförbundet before the industrial action comes into effect.

“Increasing working hours, instead of reducing them, seems to be the universal solution for the regions”, said the chairman of the Swedish Medical Association, Sineva Ribeiro, in connection with the now-nobbed counter-offer being put forward.
