Produced by Turkish engineers, the Turksat 6A satellite is planned to be launched into space tonight at 00:20 Turkey time from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in the US state of Florida.
IT WILL GIVE ITS FIRST SIGNALS AFTER IT GETS INTO ORBIT
Turksat 6A, which has a launch mass of 4.2 tons and a payload of 8.4 kilowatts, will begin providing service in a wide geography in Turkey, Europe and South Asia. Unlike previous satellites, 6A will also include countries such as India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in its area of coverage, increasing the population capacity it serves from 3.5 billion to 5 billion.
Launched into space at 00:20, 6A will enter its temporary orbit 70 minutes after launch and give its first signals. Then, Turksat 6A will set off on a one-month journey and will be fixed at its position 35,786 kilometers away from the Earth. (AA)
