Nyheter24 has previously written about the new trend “Beezing”, where young people get drunk with lip balm. This they do by applying Burt’s Bees Peppermint Lip Balm to the eyelids.
According to the young people, this should create a feeling of being high, it should also reinforce the feeling you already have when you are drunk, say young people.
The trend is spreading on social media
The trend has quickly become big and spread on social media, with steam sharing their experiences after using the lip balm on their eyelids.
This is used as a kind of “party drug” in nightclubs both in Sweden and abroad. But now the Poisons Information Center has reviewed the product and investigated whether it is actually possible to get drunk with the lip balm.
The poison information center has investigated how dangerous the lip balm is
Jasmin Khesib is a pharmacist and works at the Poison Information Center, she tells Nyheter24 that the product does not contain anything that could be dangerous for the body or cause intoxication.
– The product does not contain anything that is toxic or dangerous to the body when it is applied to the eyelid. In contrast, irritation could occur on the eyelid from the peppermint oil, says Jasmin and continues:
– If wax gets in the eye, it could cause eye irritation.
