Côtes-d’Armor: pink granite and northern gannet

Cotes dArmor pink granite and northern gannet

The coastline and the variety of coasts are the tourist assets of Côtes-d’Armor. The Pink Granite Coast has imposing rocks: the chaotic clusters of Ploumanac’h. Just opposite, the Sept-Iles serve as a refuge for the largest ornithological reserve in France. There are many historical and architectural attractions: medieval towns (Dinan, Moncontour), old chapels, castles (Rosanbo, La Roche-Jagu, Tonquédec, etc.), a few abbeys and two cathedrals (Tréguier and Saint-Brieuc).

The important part of the activity of Côtes-d’Armor is farming and the agro-food industry, with pig farming: the Plérin clock market is the organization that gives the price of pork in France.

The Peach is also developed as well as two technological poles, space telecommunications and new technologies: Anticipa technopole and animal research and biological analysis: zoopole of Saint-Brieuc-Ploufragan.

The Côtes-d’Armor: unmissable visits

The department has a very developed tourist activity: Perros-Guirec, Erquy, Pléneuf-Val-André, Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, Trébeurden, Trégastel and Saint-Quay-Portrieux.

In addition to French, Breton and Gallo are two languages traditions of Brittany, still alive. For the Breton language, the numbers show more than 67,000 Bretons over the age of 18 in the Trégorroi dialect. Gallo, a Britto-Romance language of the langue d’oïl family, is spoken in the eastern part of the department.

On the program of this dossier: Côte de granit rose, Gannethotels of the beginning of the century… good discovery.
