Reality TV star Marwa Merazka saw her lips swell dramatically after an injection of hyaluronidase. While this operation aimed to reduce the effect of hyaluronic acid injection, the young woman suffered from a severe allergic reaction.
If cosmetic surgery aims to correct bodily “defects”, it can also wreak havoc. Marwa Merazka, a famous reality TV candidate recently seen on the show Les 50 on W9, recently paid the price.
A face deformed by the intervention
It was in the context of a withdrawal of “lip injections”, that Marwa Merazka consulted a professional.
“I went to someone who is a graduate and who injected me with a product that absorbs hyaluronic acid. In fact, when you get injected with this product, it’s normal for your lips to swell. Me my lips swelled when I was in the cabinet, but for me it was normal“.
Except that overnight, things don’t go as planned. Her lips begin to swell and her face contorts.
“It wasn’t me anymore, you didn’t recognize mes”, she specifies before showing the video of her puffy face.
An allergy in question
The model says it’s an allergy.
“I haven’t slept all night, I was too scared. The next day, I go to the emergency room. I learned that I was allergic to this product. My body couldn’t take it. I have always been allergic to wasps, to the sun…“
A misadventure, which ended well but which could have been fatal since the candidate came close to the obstruction of the respiratory tract.
“I really came close to disaster. It can come to take your throat, the lungs, the tongue… it can block your breathing and it can be very serious.”
“When a person is not satisfied with the results of an injection, they are injected with hyaluronidase, a product that dissolves hyaluronic acid. But it is not a miracle antidote. Hyaluronidase can cause more or less serious allergic reactions: necrosis, hematoma, angioedema… This is why an allergic test is always carried out on the forearm in people who have a history of allergy.“, says Dr. Fatya Assadi.
And for good reason: the injections can cause a significant skin reaction in allergic patients and/or post-injection edema (which was the case with the reality TV candidate).
This is why the injections practiced illegally and clandestinely by pseudo specialists are to be banned. Only an aesthetic doctor qualified for injections can perform them, while minimizing the risk of complications.
