The Corsican National Liberation Front (FNLC) claimed responsibility on Monday October 9 for the twenty explosions against buildings across the island during the night from Sunday to Monday, assuring that it did not have “a common destiny with France”, in a press release sent daily Corsica-Morning.
“A Francia Fora”, (Editor’s note: “France outside”), concludes this four-line text signed by the Corsican National Liberation Front, just a few hours after the explosions which targeted second homes, an abandoned tax center or even villas under construction, whether in Haute-Corse or Corse-du-Sud.
They laid down their arms in the mid-2010s
This press release ends with the respective slogans, in Corsican language, of the FLNC – Union of Combatants and the FLNC October 22, two formerly rival clandestine movements which had laid down their arms in the mid-2010s and are today united under the same banner of the FLNC.
In a press release at the beginning of August, in which it claimed responsibility for 16 attacks, including 11 in 2023 and five in 2022 and 2021, the FLNC called for the creation of a “patriotic resistance platform” in the face of “disproportionate colonization” and a “process of destruction of the Corsican people”. “No agreement between Corsica and France can be described as historic as long as it does not ratify the recognition of the rights of the Corsican people on their land,” the text continued.
“Sell their souls”
To illustrate this “patriotic resistance”, the clandestine movement evoked the real estate agent who “will put the file of a patriot on the top of the pile”, the “employers who will favor a Corsican candidate”, the Corsican who “will prefer to sell their land to a young couple from their village” or those who “will work to find another source of income rather than renting their property via Airbnb in a frenetic and exaggerated manner”.
In this text, the clandestine group also threatened “the complicit Corsicans”, who “will have to be held accountable” for “having sold their land and therefore their soul, to the highest bidders”.
