The pleasing news about the effective coronavirus pandemic in the world came from the World Health Organization (WHO). In a statement, WHO stated that the pandemic has come to an end and announced that the lowest level of weekly casualties has been reached since March 2020.
“LOSS OF LIVES AT THE LOWEST LEVEL”
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, at a press conference in Geneva, evaluated the impact of the Kovid-19 and monkeypox epidemics and the floods in Pakistan on health services.
Emphasizing that the global casualties due to Kovid-19 last week were at the lowest level since March 2020, Ghebreyesus said, “We have never been in a better position to end the epidemic. We see the end, but we are not there.” said.
“REACHED THE FINISH LINE”
Defending the view that the finish line has been reached in the fight against Kovid-19, Ghebreyesus said, “The worst thing we can do in this situation is to stop. We must run faster and cross the finish line. If we do not seize this opportunity now, we risk more variants, deaths and uncertainty.” he said.
Ghebreyesus reiterated his call for WHO member states to vaccinate all citizens at risk and to meet the target of vaccinating 70 percent of their population.

Stating that the global decline in the monkeypox epidemic continues with Kovid-19, Ghebreyesus said, “Just like in Kovid-19, we should not get used to the comfort and not let our guard down in the fight against monkeypox.
