Corona restrictions are being eased in China EPN news

The number of corona tests will be reduced and home isolation will be allowed in mild cases. Traveling within the country is also made easier.

China announced on Wednesday that it will loosen the corona restrictions. According to the health authorities, home isolation is allowed if the symptoms of infection are mild.

In the future, mandatory mass testing for everyone will only be carried out in educational institutions and areas with a high coronary risk. According to the Chinese health authorities, a fresh, negative corona test is no longer required to travel within the country.

City closure measures criticized as too strict will also be eased. From now on, the high-risk infection area assigned to quarantine will be released if no new infections are detected for five days.

Expected policies

China’s corona guidelines announced today were expected.

Last week, China’s Vice Premier Sun Chulan said that China is entering a new phase with a “more humane approach”.

China has been using exceptionally strict measures to prevent corona infections for almost three years now. This has meant, among other things, continuous lockdown measures in cities with millions and mandatory corona testing.

In recent weeks, there have been signs in China that the citizens have started to have enough of the zero-corona policy. The country has seen protests criticizing the Communist Party and even demanding the country’s leader Xi Jingping break up.
