The food giant Coop has, throughout its life, offered customers to become members. In return, members receive various discounts and benefits. The chain currently has 3.9 million members.
NEVER do this at the checkout at Coop: “Death glances”

For several years, a special member’s discount applied on Tuesdays, where those who shop for more than SEK 200 receive a five percent discount on the entire food box.
Now the Tuesday discount is abolished and it will instead apply to the prices of individual goods, which Eskilstuna-Kurriren Be the first to write about.
“Generally, from February 1, 2024, members receive a percentage discount on regular prices, not as before on the entire receipt,” writes Coop’s press secretary Marcus Björling in another email News24.
The reason is that the food chain has adapted its discount to the rest of the industry.

But there is hope for those who want to keep their discount – Björling points out that it can look different depending on which association you are a member of. And there are 26 associations at Coop.
“Some have senior Tuesdays, some member Tuesdays, some have discounts on other days as well,” writes Björling and adds:
“Because we are a cooperation, the respective associations have the opportunity to handle discounts a little differently.”
