Cooling radiator: what is it?

the radiator of an engine is part of the cooling system of the vehicle. Its main mission is to prevent the engine from overheating, so that it works optimally at any level and provides maximum performance.

The central element of the cooling system is the radiator, which acts as a regulator of the temperature by the passage ofair between its channels and its cells.

At the heart of the cooling system is also the water pump, which moves the cooling liquid through all its internal ducts. Finally, the thermostat is the component of the system which makes it possible to open or not the access to the cooling circuit.

How does a cooling radiator work?

The operation is as follows: the tubes receive the hot coolant coming from the engine by the tank located at the top, and this one is cooled by the air coming from the fins, and is pushed by the water pump.

Then, when cooled, the coolant returns to its place (in the recovery tank) through the lower radiator tank.

What is the cooling system used for?

The system of cooling is essential for the proper functioning of a vehicle, especially for heavy goods vehicles. It keeps the engine at an optimum temperature by dissipating the heat produced inside it, especially the one that surrounds the combustion chamber.

If the heat produced was not mitigated, the metal parts of the engine would expand and the lubricating oil would burn. This could cause problems with the pistons and cylinders, and the engine would jam.

The cooling system is basically made up of metal parts, of which the radiator is a part. They can be made in steel, in aluminum or in plastic.
