For the first time, a person has been convicted of serious weapons offences, without the police having found the weapon itself, Ekot reports.

The District Court and the Court of Appeal consider that a film that the man had on his mobile phone, in which he handles a converted starting pistol, is sufficient as evidence of possession.

The man is sentenced to four years and ten months in prison for serious weapons offenses and serious drug offences. He has admitted drug offenses of the normal degree but denies weapons offences.
