Controversial thesis on Islamist infiltration

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

On Friday, Sameh Egytpson presented his controversial thesis on how the Muslim Brotherhood is said to have secretly infiltrated Swedish society with the aim of creating an Islamist world order.

For 20 years, Sameh Egyptson has worked on the thesis, which points to the Stockholm mosque as the driving force.

– They want to create an Islamic order in the world, with a caliphate governed by Sharia law, he says.

“Yousef”: I am wrongly identified

Sameh Egyptson also names a number of people as representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood. “Yousef” is one of these – and he, like several others, considers himself wrongly singled out.

– If I am abroad and visit a country where the Muslim Brotherhood is considered a terrorist organization, I can be arrested, interrogated and, in the worst case, tortured and even executed

“Yousef” also points to direct inaccuracies in the 745-page thesis. Sameh Eygptson, for his part, claims that the evidence is watertight.

Prepared to take the consequences

He is well aware of the risk of Sameh Egytpson being reported for defamation.

– Someone has to take the hit and I am prepared to take the consequences

The defense at Lund University has been completed. Whether the thesis will be approved is still unclear because the assessment board must meet first.

Fact: The Muslim Brotherhood (TT)

The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928. The movement was tolerated for a long time, as long as it did not challenge power.

The movement is a large international Sunni Muslim network whose idea is based on Islam influencing politics.

The Brotherhood and its leader Muhammad Mursi won the parliamentary and presidential elections in Egypt after the country’s longtime dictator Hosni Mubarak was overthrown in 2011 in the popular uprising during the Arab Spring.

However, Mursi too was soon met by popular protests and was overthrown by the military in the summer of 2013.

Since then, the new regime under President Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi has cracked down hard on the Muslim Brotherhood, which has been labeled a terrorist.

The movement is also banned in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Opponents point out that it has ties to militant groups such as Palestinian Hamas.

The Muslim Brotherhood has influence in several Muslim countries, even where the organization has been banned.
