The elite team mostly features real Navy SEALs, which may have contributed to the authentic staging of the fight scenes. At the Hollywood Reporter the land, air and sea missions are described as “masterfully coordinated” designated. In addition to the action sequences, there are only a few aspects in the film by Scott Waugh (Expendables 4) and Mouse McCoy that elicit widespread critical praise. The acting performances of the amateurs were criticized and the portrayal of the military apparatus sparked controversy.
Several critics place the film close to military propaganda, which, according to Rolling Stone, sounds like a “Recruitment poster” and according to AV Club “manipulative” work. To what extent this judgment corresponds to the facts, each viewer must decide for themselves.
