Robert Gustafsson is one of Sweden’s most celebrated comedians.
Who turns 58 years old today and then of course we remember the unforgettable classic with Tony Rickardsson.
– I have been very proud of it, the speedway legend has told.
As many times as Robert Gustafsson has stepped out onto the stage and gilded the entire Sports Gala over the years. Time and time again, the Swedish star comedian has offered laughs after laughs by delivering humor in absolute world class.
Gustafsson’s show
The very best moments are of course when Gustafsson dressed up and imitated the speedway icon Tony Rickardsson on three different occasions. For a long time it was about the motor hero never being allowed to win a prize at the Sports Gala, even though he wrote Swedish sports history and won the WC gold on a regular basis.

But then when he won the historic sixth WC gold in 2005, Rickardsson got the great honor of finally winning a long-awaited prize at the Sports Gala. And of course the lookalike was there to present him with the award.

Rickardsson’s words
It really is a real TV classic when Gustafsson comes out in speedway clothes and claims that he is “not bitter”. Rickardsson has also enjoyed memorable moments at the Sports Gala.
– It was great fun, I was very proud that someone wanted to imitate me. It feels like a big deal. But there are many who may not be so interested in sports who come forward and say “it’s you who never won anything”. Then it’s Robert’s imitations they think of, Tony has told in an interview with Expressen.

Rickardsson didn’t actually think it was particularly difficult, as many others probably thought, but saw it as Gustafsson taking an important fight for the sport.
– Life is about give and take. If you look at what Robert said, he thought it was sad that motorsport got so few prizes. After all, it was an athletics gala where for a while some other sports were overshadowed. As a representative of a smaller sport, you had to win the WC four or five times to even get to the Sports Gala. It was a bit strange, the speedway hero admits to the evening newspaper.

Tony Rickardsson also remembers the time he sat at the tribute table and next to the deceased the princess Lilian.
– Haha, she had no idea who he was impersonating so I had to whisper to her; “I think it’s me,” says Tony with a laugh.
