The 24-year-old has been named the winner of the skiing icon’s award after his impressive efforts at this year’s SM week.
“It was a tired Linn Svahn who came to the SM week in Luleå/Boden and Pagla Ski Stadium. The form was not at its best, but she wanted to win and gave her all in every race. The effort in the three-mile, where she finished second, was heroic, in the best Sixten Jernberg spirit. She connected the grip initially. During the second half of the race, Ebba Andersson passed and led by 16 seconds after 25 kilometers. But Linn Svahn refused to give up. She gained second after second during the final stage of the race and was only eight seconds behind at the finish line”, reads the justification from the jury and continues with the following words.
“Not only that, Linn Svahn was responsible for more impressive efforts during the SM week. She:
– sprinted down the big favorite Jonna Sundling, who won the opening three races, in the sprint final after a dramatic riot.
– became a medalist in all individual races and sprinted home a bronze medal in the sprint relay.
– won the entire SM tour”.
