Today we pay tribute to the icon Anja Pärson on her 43rd birthday.
And she reveals the truth about the “Master of Masters” after the prestigious victory.
When you think of legendary heroes in Swedish sports, Anja Pärson high on that list. She had an absolutely fantastic career in alpine skiing and was so incredibly popular in our long country at the time she was skiing down the slopes.
Anja Pärson’s career
Pärson’s track record is extremely impressive with one Olympic gold, seven World Championship gold and a total of 19 championship medals from his active career. She managed to secure a total of 42 World Cup victories over the years and was awarded the Bragdguldet twice as well as the Victoria scholarship in 2004.

There are few who can match that in sports Sweden throughout the ages. In recent months, we have seen Anja Pärson square off with other sports heroes in the acclaimed SVT program “Master of Champions” and the competition was really tough.

But no one managed to stop Pärson from reaching the final and taking home the overall victory.
– Yes! I could never have believed that when I came down to the recording and we started, this is going to be tough I thought, then I know that there were a lot of expectations for me. So all I thought was, “I don’t want to go out first” (laughs). But it was an extremely good resistance and so fun and surprising to come home with the dent. I think that Sebastian is the one who has been the strongest throughout the season, but I managed to pull it together at the end, says Anja in a victory interview with the newspaper QX.

The Alpine icon now reveals the truth about the Master of Masters and what it was really like during the filming. Above all, the cohesion between the participants was extremely good and she confirms that it was as much fun as you could see on the TV screen.
– Yes, even more fun, she says with a laugh. We were a great bunch and you were worried with every person that went that we would lose the spirit of the group but we managed to keep it throughout the program.

Anja also reveals that it was significantly more difficult than she had expected.
– No, it was much tougher, both physically and mentally. It was horrible every morning when you knew they were going to torment us with some new competition. But we were nine people who became extremely tight in a short time. After all, we are all athletes who have stopped at the elite level and would now start competing again, but it was like therapy to be able to talk about their careers, she admits in the interview.
