The province, which is responsible for management and maintenance, sees two options. A new bridge that – just like the current bridge – can be opened, or one that remains closed. “With a fixed bridge, the Vinkeveense Plassen will become completely inaccessible,” says Ben van Rijn, chairman of the Vinkeveen business association.
