Ensari said that some parts of the law prepared during the previous government period were unacceptable, “In line with the interests of the country, the executive authority decided to temporarily prevent the publication of the law until a change was prepared by the Presidential Law Office and sent to Parliament.” he said.
Ensari pointed out the “unauthorized” demonstrations and campaigns organized by the excessive conservative segments to apply the law, said:
“More than 8 months have passed after the election, now close your campaign center. The government is trying to solve problems with the support of leaders, why do some exclude others? Which authorized headscarf in this country do not believe in this country?
Mandatory headscarf law in Iran
Mahsa Emini, who was detained in September 2022 on the grounds of violating the compulsory headscarf rule in Iran, lasted for more than 4 months and hundreds of people lost their lives.
After a while after the settlement of the events, some women in metropolitan cities such as Tehran did not comply with the headscarf rule in public areas, shopping centers, cafes, banks, schools and streets.
As the violations increased, the previous government had prepared a bill that envisages a fine of fines in public places, prevention of banking services and banning from social activities.
The draft law passed the parliament in September 2023. The law was suspended after the election of President Mesud Pezşkiyan, who often criticized the law in the election campaign.
Some conservative politicians and clergy argue that the law, which attracts the reaction of a large segment in the country, should be applied, especially those who do not comply with the rules of the headscarf in Tehran and there is no raid.
Parliament Speaker Muhammad Copper Kalibaf, the compulsory headscarf law was not implemented by the decision of the National Security Council announced.
Pezşkiyan also responded to the calls on the implementation of the law, stating that “according to the laws of the state, it would not be possible to apply the laws opposed by the majority of the people”.
Finally, the parliamentary environment in Tehran was the scene of the demonstrations of the groups demanding the implementation of the law. It was noteworthy that many of the demonstrators were women.
A person who spoke during the demonstrations used President Mesud Pezşkiyan with insulting words.
The Governorate of Tehran declared the demonstration unauthorized and illegal in his statement on the issue.
