“Completely incompetent” – Asmongold criticizes Blizzard for hacking WoW Classic

Twitch streamer Asmongold responded to a viral video showing a player flying through a dungeon to level up a group of players in WoW Classic Season of Discovery. He sharply criticizes Blizzard because of the hacking situation.

What kind of video is it about? A video by World of Warcraft creator N_Tys went viral on X (formerly Twitter). In this video he shows a hacker in WoW Classic: Season of Discovery. In the video, a magician can be seen apparently pulling a group of players through a dungeon to level them up.

However, the magician does not run, but flies. We reported on hackers in Season of Discovery just a week after it started. Asmongold reacted to the viral video in his livestream and expressed his criticism of Blizzard.

“This destroys the integrity of the game” – Asmongold sharply criticizes Blizzard

What does Asmongold say about the video? Asmongold is not happy about the video at all. Asmongold has often criticized Blizzard in the past, most recently he was skeptical when the Season of Disovery was announced.

In his reaction to the viral video, Asmongold appears to be uncomprehending towards Blizzard, especially when it comes to the detection systems.

He wonders how players aren’t flagged for the anti-cheat system when flying through dungeons. As soon as they exceed a certain height that cannot be achieved using normal means, the system should automatically mark them as cheaters, says the WoW streamer.

According to Asmongold, buying gold is one thing, but modifying the game files and flying through the world is on a different level. “This completely destroys the immersion and integrity of the game more than anything else!”

According to Asmongold, what is the problem? Asmongold sees the problem with Blizzard itself. The company’s anti-cheat department is “completely incompetent and totally underfunded.”

The department is too small to combat the many cheaters and the employees that Blizzard put there are stupid, says Asmongold. He criticizes Blizzard often and usually harshly, so this choice of words is not an unusual one for Asmongold, as he has demonstrated here.

How does the community feel about the criticism? On YouTube, most viewers agree with Asmongold. User BigBoyAdvance writes: “It’s funny how private servers have solved the hacking problem, but a billion dollar company like Blizzard can’t.”

The user named TheUnknownOtaku jokes: “In fact, magicians can fly. It’s a new skill, you just have to have a dad who works at Blizzard.”

iframe1 also can’t understand why Blizzard can’t solve the problem: “I really can’t understand how private servers can write a hacking/bot detection system while Blizzard seems like they won’t even try.”

Hackers are not a new problem for WoW players; it has even gone so far that hackers are founding their own cartels and threatening players.
