YouTuber MacroBioBoi did what many Diablo fans thought was impossible: in Diablo 2: Resurrected he killed the final boss Baal on the highest difficulty “Hell” without ever attacking a single enemy. He succeeded with special items for the sorceress.

What is so special about the run? A pacifist run is characterized by the fact that players are never allowed to attack themselves. Opponents may only be defeated by inflicting damage on themselves, for example with thorns and the like.
In addition, the run must be started naked. All equipment and weapons used must be from the run. Traps, Summons, Mercenaries, and Auras that deal damage are also prohibited.
This leaves participants only with special effects such as thorn damage via certain auras and abilities. This deals damage to enemies when they in turn attack the player. Survival becomes the most important factor.

How did MacroBioBoi do it? The YouTuber played a sorceress in his run. In order to be able to reliably defeat opponents, he relied on a special property of armor.
In Diablo 2 there are items that can trigger spells or effects when you get hit. In the case of MacroBioBoi, he relied on the Nova spell, which also plays an important role in damage builds.
Nova creates a field around the sorceress, damaging enemies. The spell itself would be forbidden, but since it’s triggered via an item effect when a hit is received, MacroBioBoi doesn’t violate the rules.
He finally increased the probability of triggering to 100%. As a sorceress, he also had access to useful protective spells, such as various armors that deal damage when hit.
That was the big difficulty: A particular opponent in Act 4, Lord De Seis, is completely immune to cold damage and nearly immune to almost all other elements, depending on his random modifiers.
In addition, his attacks do not trigger thorns or similar effects. MacroBioBoi had to take advantage of other enemies attacking him and activating his nova to slowly defeat the mini boss. This takes a while.
As the YouTuber himself explains, he needed more than 50 hours for his run – 23 minutes just for the final boss. But he was still faster than someone who absolutely wanted to have all the items:
