The 10-Minute Play Competition is part of the annual Grand River Arts Festival at Glenhyrst in Brantford.

This fast-paced theater competition showcases participants presenting 10-minute, stage-ready theater productions in front of a live audience and vying for cash prizes.
Actors and troupes interested in competing are invited to register and submit their production for consideration. Selected applicants will have the opportunity to produce their play for the competition, which promises a diverse array of genres, themes, formats, styles and perspectives.
“This competition provides a platform for emerging and established talents to showcase their creativity and storytelling prowess,” said Wiktor Kulinski, theater program coordinator for the festival.

Prizes include $1,000 for gold, $500 for silver, and $250 for bronze.
Competitors must bring a fully produced play that is under 10 minutes with a maximum of four actors. They must be original works or works with secured rights. Lighting will be pre-set to full white or a color wash. Two stage hands are permitted.
There is no cost to submit theater productions for consideration or to compete. Companies, troupes and individuals are permitted to submit multiple plays for consideration, although space is limited.
The application is available at glenhyrst.ca/graf/theatre/10minplaycomp. The deadline for applications is April 29. Results will be announced May 13. The competition will be held on Sept. 21 at the Coach House at Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant, 20 Ava Rd.
The Grand River Arts Festival is a celebration and exhibition of visual arts, music and theater held on the Glenhyrst grounds. The focus is on showcasing artists from Brant and southwestern Ontario. The festival will be held Sept. 20 to 21.
