(Finance) – A spokesperson for the Commission European he assured that Brussels will “carefully analyze” the bill on the competition adopted by Italy “from the perspective of the food sector street vendors as well as in that of concessions seaside” and “will continue the bilateral dialogue on these two issues with the Italian authorities”. According to what was reported by Ansa, the spokesperson then recalled that the Commission “is monitoring the situation of the street vendor sector in Italy and on this issue it is already been in contact with the national authorities”.
As regards the dossier relating to beach concessions, the Commission representative underlined that when the use of a “scarce” resource such as beaches is subject to authorization “all parties interested in the provision of services, both now and in the future, must have the opportunity to compete” to have access to them. This, he added, in order to promote theinnovation it’s a competition fair for the benefit of consumers and gods entrepreneursas well as to protect citizens from the risk of monopolizing available resources.
“The States members – he then observed – they have the obligation to ensure that permissions in limited numbers are assigned for a limited period of time and through a public and open selection procedure based on non-discriminatory, transparent and objective criteria”.
