Companies that use Artificial Intelligence, EY: Italy third in Europe

IA Annual Conference Manpowergroup optimistic companies but 78 fear they

(Finance) – Artificial intelligence and challenges which represents for the world of the labor industry is the central topic of the conference ComoLake 2024. But how do companies approach this technology?

“We did research on 5,000 companies in the European context from which it emerges that Italy is not in bad shape because, on the podium, afterwards Spain and Switzerland, it is the third for the adoption of AI in the company”he says Paolo Lobetti Bodoni, Consulting Leader EY. As regards use, companies mainly focus on information technology (30% of respondents), but also on marketing, customer operations, sales, so it is very widespread.”

An aspect not to be overlooked related to artificial intelligence is that of sustainability

“It should be considered that artificial intelligence, in addition to offering great opportunities, also has a significant environmental impact, due to the energy consumption of data centers. Do you think that the 1% of the world’s energy supports the data centers that keep the available artificial intelligence models running. And think that 3% of greenhouse gases are produced by these data centers. This means that the use of artificial intelligenceand, although promising, It must be managed confidently but responsibly and sustainably.”

The potential of the technology is evident, but what is the current use that is actually made within the company?

The attention on generative AI is broadening everyone’s focus to take up the various types of artificial intelligence, from descriptive to visual, from machine learning to deep learning. So what we see is a use on all processes, from front office ones to the specific vertical ones of individual sectors, customer operations but also product development, up to the definition of new marketing contents. Both in the private sector, but also in the public sector, because let’s not forget that the Italian public administrations are in a position of leadership in this sense, we see it as a pervasive force wherever there is an opportunity to create value,” he highlights Teodoro Lio, CEO Accenture.
