(Finance) – “La Mediterranean Academy Foundation for Energy and Sustainability it is an initiative born from input from the European Commission, it was established by EnSiEL National Interuniversity Consortium and from Ferraresi Energia Reclamation Company: it is an initiative that tends to mitigate the differences especially from the point of view of knowledge and training between the Northern and Southern shores of the Mediterranean”. Thus Dominic Villaccidirector of EnSiEL, interviewed by Finance on the occasion of Comolake 2024.
“Italy is a Energy hub for the Mediterraneanas is also stated in the PNIEC. This is fundamental for Italy but also burdens us with responsibility: it is no coincidence that the Commission asked us to create an initiative that aimed to mitigate the critical issues for the creation of an integrated energy system at European level. Integrated means above all integrating knowledge, sharing it and sharing points of view also with these countries also from regulatory point of view and not only from a technological point of view”, explained Villacci
“The foundation has precisely this role. Certainly the training of human resources is fundamental from this point of view. For us as a foundation, the training of young people is of great importance, and not only that, but also the training of technicians, the upgrading of knowledge of these resources. For this reason, as a Foundation we can count on a very important Italian university system made up of 30 universities working in the field of electricity and other energy sectors with over 400 researchers”, he underlined.
“This – concluded the director of EnSiEL – means having a capacitynot only training, but also research so we can face these challenges through the foundation with both quantitative and qualitative capabilities”
