ComoLake, Intecs: AI and air traffic, a natural combination

ComoLake Intecs AI and air traffic a natural combination

(Finance) – The opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence are at the center of the Como Lake 2024 conference. Can these technologies also be applied to air traffic?

“Absolutely. The Air traffic is a natural application of artificial intelligence because aviation and traffic control have very stringent procedures that generate considerable amounts of data and therefore the application of artificial intelligence allows these procedures to be automated and flight control time to be dedicated to less bureaucratic activities. The applications are the most varied, in reality it is a European partnership that SSR has been indicating a path for many years which are the most obvious, intrinsic to traffic”. Massimo Mannori, Intecs General Director, on the occasion of ComoLake 2024.

“So – he continues – the prediction and then the removal of nodes, so to speak, air traffic hot spots, the smart sectorization of airways up to voice recognition applications to reduce the manual intensity of controllers, etc. Now, Air traffic safety is not only but it is an artificial intelligencemeans many things, especially three others. Let’s say the first, not obvious to most, but is the quality of the satellite positioning signal. Intelligence has been working for 20 years since its inception on Galileo systemon the Galileo satellite signal that Europe wanted to give itself, worked with the Italian European Space Agency, with the entire Italian space industry and we put a product in which we have condensed these 20 years of experience which allows monitoring of the quality of the signal first and foremost, in, let’s say, topical areas of the flight and any obviously malicious interference, let’s say, on the signal itself. Two other important themes refer not so much to traditional aircraft, which we have talked about up to now, but to dronesevidently. So the, let’s say, malicious drones, which have multiplied on critical infrastructures, on prisons, on sporting events, conferences, concerts. They must be intercepted, this is obvious, but the innovation is real and strongit is done not with proclamations, not with prototypes, but with serious products, modularly designed, fiercely tested and industrialized in costswhich Intecs has done and today it has a product that allows you to detect the drone, the position of the drone, the position of its take-off, of the pilot and then activate, precisely the corresponding mitigation rather than elimination, let’s say, of the problem, according to the procedure established by the customer. The last topic that always concerns drones concerns i commercial drones. We talk about aerogenic medicine delivery, we talk about last mile logistics, we talk about people taxi services. This traffic will increase exponentially and will have to be integrated into, let’s say, traditional air control, as Euro Control indicated in the roadmap last week in Bologna, at Drone Italy”.

“In the next 1-2 years, the first step is the full implementation of what is called New Space, and Italy is at the forefront, the skills of Enavof the Italian industry are, I repeat, at the forefront and we could, if we say, we all unite towards the goal, be the first to bring the most advanced flights and therefore taxi services for people or on the occasion of the Jubilee or on the occasion of the Cortina Olympicswhich was not achieved, let’s say, in Paris, at the Paris Olympics”, concludes Mannori.
