ROCK Missions will be using a donation from Community Living Chatham-Kent for food and hygiene products at drop-in centers in Wallaceburg and Chatham.
Community Living donates a portion of its proceeds from its Food Truck Crawl event to a cause every year, the organization said in a news release.
ROCK, which stands for Reach Out Chatham-Kent, is the recipient of the 2023 funds. According to the release, ROCK serves more than 700 free meals each week to those in need through its locations in Chatham and Wallaceburg.
“This donation will be used towards the purchase of food and hygiene products for the drop-in centers and outreach services,” Jackie VanderLinden, executive lead with ROCK, said in the release.
“It helps us keep the doors open, and people nourished, which assists to build trust in hopes of connecting our friends to the resources they need.”
Nicole Roeszler, manager of community relations with Community Living Chatham-Kent, said the organization “is proud to support these vital programs as they provide essential services and resources to vulnerable people in our community.”
