Submissions to community calendar can be emailed to [email protected]. Items must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the date of the event.

JANUARY

CRIME FIGHTING:

January is Crime Stoppers’ month. To learn more about the crime fighting program and if you have information on any crime, contact Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 1-800-222-8477 or by logging onto helpsolvecrime.com. You never have to give your name and you could be eligible for a cash reward. Crime Stoppers – helping to make your community a better place.

CHICKEN WINGS:

Take out or eat in at the Waterford Legion on Jan. 27. Hall opens at 4:45 pm (order in person) with serving at 5 pm Cost is $12 for wings, $5 for onion wings and $4 for fries. Bring your own bag for takeout.

WINGS & THINGS PUB NIGHT:

JAMBOREE AND DANCE:

Jamboree and dance at the Tillsonburg Legion on Jan. 27 from 1-5 pm by Ken Lightheart and the Northshore Ramblers. $5 admission at the door. Everyone welcome.

FREE CLOTHING GIVEAWAY:

At St. James United Church, 150 Colborne St. S. Simcoe on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 8:30 am-11 am Good used clothing for men, women and children plus some miscellaneous items. Donations of clothing appreciated. Drop off 9-11 am Monday to Thursday only at the church office.

OPENJAM:

Everyone is welcome to bring an instrument or just come out and listen to the music during the free open jam at the Teeterville Legion on Saturday, Jan. 28 starting at 1 pm Held the last Saturday of every month. FEBRUARY

SENIORS HEALTH & WELLNESS FAIR:

Tillsonburg Senior Center will host a free Seniors’ Health & Wellness Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 9:30 am – 2 pm at the Tillsonburg Senior Center (45 Hardy Ave). Join them for demonstrations, free healthy snacks courtesy of Tillsonburg Retirement Residence, informative seminars and a trade show featuring businesses relevant to healthy, active senior living. Call 688-2520 for information. Sponsored by the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility and the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario.

CABBAGE ROLL SUPPER:

Held at the Waterford Legion on Feb. 1 at 5:30 pm Cost is $13 with dessert included.

WING NIGHT:

Held in the Memorial Hall at the Simcoe Legion on Friday, Feb. 3 from 5 to 8 pm Cost is $11 for one pound of wings and $30 for three pounds of wings; $5.50 for onion rings; $4 for fries. Everyone welcome.

VALENTINE PARTY:

Messy Church is holding a “Valentine OH Dear Party” on Feb. 4 from 10 am to 12 noon 10am to 12 noon at St. Paul’s United Church, 88 Bidwell Street in Tillsonburg. Family fun includes crafts, games, music and lunch. No load. Please enter by the ramp door.

CHILDREN’S CHOCOLATE BAR BINGO:

Tillsonburg & Area Optimist Club is hosting a free Children’s Chocolate Bar Bingo on Feb. 7 in the gymnasium at North Broadway Church, 6 North St. E., Tillsonburg. Doors open at 6:20 pm and bingo starts at 6:30 pm Children ages 2-16 welcome. Kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY:

Tillsonburg Horticultural Society’s next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7 starting with a seed exchange at 6:30 pm following by the meeting at 7:30 pm with speaker Andrew Fleet on the topic Growing Chefs – food and family relationships. Held at the Senior Center—Tillsonburg Community Complex. Everyone welcome. Guest admission is $4. Membership is $20 per year.

FISH AND CHIPS

: At the Waterford Legion on Feb. 10. Sales start 4:30 pm Eat-in or

take out. Cost is $11.50 for one piece of fish, $16 for two pieces of fish. Cost of meal for children is $7.

VALENTINE DANCE:

Will be held at the Simcoe Legion on Saturday, Feb. 11 featuring the band KrackerJax, a six piece show band with a great selection of R&B, rock, blues, disco and pop tunes. Playing from 7-11 pm Admission is $10 per person and tickets will be available at the legion on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

VALENTINE’S BRUNCH:

Tillsonburg Legion Valentine’s Sweetheart Brunch is Sunday, Feb. 12 from 9 am to 1 pm Tickets are $15 adult, and $5 child (10 and under) at the door. Flowers for the first 100 ladies. All welcome.

SINGING VALENTINES

: If you’re looking for something different and fun to give on Valentine’s Day, consider a singing Valentine. A live quartet will sing two love songs and provide a rose for your loved one in the Simcoe and Tillsonburg areas. Or you can opt for an online version. WITH LOVE:

Tia McGraff and Tommy Parham present “With Love” on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 pm at Delhi United Church, 105 Church Street West in Delhi. These award-winning singer-songwriters will perform this fundraising concert to benefit the Volunteer Association to Norfolk General Hospital and Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home. Tickets cost $35 and are available by calling either Margaret Saunders at 519-582-0796 or Judy Boughner at 519-582-3892, or can be purchased at the coffee kiosk at NGH. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held on Sunday February 26.

NEEDLE ARTS GUILD:

Norfolk’s Own Needle Arts Guild meets on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings at the Waterford United Church, 135 Main St. S., Waterford from 7 pm to 9 pm The group also meets every Monday at the church from 10 am to 3:30 pm If you are a stitcher or would like to learn new techniques, please join them. STORYTIME:

Preschool storytime for children to six years of age is held Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11 am at the Delhi Branch of the Norfolk County Public Library.
