DECEMBER
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The Simcoe Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Drive is still in need of volunteers to cover two-hour shifts in Waterford, Simcoe, Delhi and Port Dover. Please contact Doug Montgomery at 519-909-9421 to volunteer or get more information.
HOLIDAY PROGRAMS: The Haldimand County Public Library is hosting holiday programming for children aged 3 to 12 at all local branches over the winter holiday. Each library location will be offering in-branch crafts, parties and winter-themed storytimes for some added fun over the winter break. Registration is required and some programs do have a small fee (between $1 and $4) to cover supplies.
JARVIS LIGHT UP 2022: The Light Up Tour takes place Dec. 13 to Jan. 1. On Dec. 16, the tour’s grand finale fireworks display will begin at 5 pm at Jarvis Lions Park. (See the Jarvis Light Up Facebook page for more info.)

FOOD DRIVE: Members of the Port Rowan Fire Station will be in front of WF Clover Farm supermarket in Port Rowan on Dec. 17-18 from 10 am to 4 pm to collect food for the local food bank.
SANTA CLAUS PARADE: The Waterford Lions are organizing the town’s second annual Santa Claus Parade to take place Dec. 17 at 6:30 pm Organizers will be in the downtown park from 3 pm onwards with refreshments and more. The Lions members will also be accepting food bank donations in the parkette next to the lit up Christmas tree.
WINGS AND THINGS: At Waterford Legion on Dec. 30. Serving at 5 pm Hall opens at 4:45 pm (no phone orders). Eat-in or take-out. Wings $12, fries $4 and onion wings $5. Bring your own bag for takeout. Karaoke will be held at the same night from 7-10 pm Music by JCS.
NOT A NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY: This is not a New Year’s Eve Party – it’s a pre-New Year’s Eve party to be held at the Simcoe Legion on Friday, Dec. 30 from 7-11 pm Featuring music from The Mushy Peez. Tickets are $10 per person and are available in the legion clubroom.
NEW YEAR’S DANCE: Waterford Legion New Year’s Eve Dance, Dec. 31 from 9 pm to 1 am Cost is $25 per person. There is a limit of 100 tickets available at the legion bar. Music by Heckle The Band. Serving roast beef on a bun.

TILLSONBURG HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: Monthly meeting held Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 7:30 pm at the Tillsonburg Senior Center Tillsonburg Community Center. Guest speaker is John Lohuis, MBA, past connections CPRA, Niagara Parks & Rec and Leisure Info Network. The topic is experiences judging ‘Communities in Bloom’. Everyone welcome.
