(Finance) – Jefferies Financial GroupUS investment bank, holds 5.33% Of CommerzbankGerman banking giant, through derivative instruments. Jefferies, which surpassed the 5% materiality threshold on October 18, does not hold any voting rights attached to the shares.

The news comes in the aftermath of rumors that UniCredit ha further hedged potential downside risks on its holding in Commerzbank through financial derivative contracts with Jefferies.

Looking at the main shareholders of Commerzbank, the German government has 12.11% of the capital in shares, UniCredit 9.51% in shares and 11.70% in derivatives, BlackRock 7.19% in shares and 0.19% in derivatives, Norges 3.17% in shares, Amundi 2.78% in shares and 0.23% in derivatives, Bank of America 0.25% in shares and 6.73% in derivatives, Barclays 0.09% in shares and 6.72% in derivatives.

According to rumors released in recent weeks, UniCredit has used Barclays and Bank of America to build its stake in Commerzbank.
