Commercial vehicles EU sales plummeting with expensive fuel and war

(Finance) – 2022 continues to see a strong contraction in the road vehicles sector, also due to the crisis that has hit the EU and the surge in fuel prices. According to data provided by the European Association of Car Manufacturers (ACEA), the registrations of light commercial vehicles (up to 3.5 tons), they scored a decrease of 28.7% with 122,618 registrations throughout the European Union and del 29.8% in the Euro Area to 108,675 units. Considering Western Europe (Euro Area, United Kingdom and EFTA countries) the figure shows a decrease of 29%.

The financial statements for the first quarter is negative and shows a difference of -21.3% and for theEurozone a -22.3%. For Western Europe the variation is equal to -22.5%.

The Italian market recorded a marked decline in March (-10.7%), doing better than France (-28.6%), Germany (-22.2%), Spain (-46.5%) and the United Kingdom (-23.6%), now outside the EU.

Also including heavy vehicles and buses, the total registrations register for the whole EU a decrease of 24.9% in March (-18.1% from the beginning of the year), while in Eurozone there was a decrease in 26.3% (from January -19.4%) and in Western Europe (EU14 + UK + EFTA) a decline of 26.1% on month (cumulative change -19.8%).
