Commerce: turnover down by 6.7%, employees up by 2%

Germany retail sales slowed in February

(Finance) – A decline in the revenue equal to -6.7% in the pandemic year compared to the previous year, with an increase in employees of + 2%. This is the perimeter of the trade sector outlined byObservatory on 2020 budgets of the Srl of the Council and of the National Foundation of Accountants. The compartment, whose sample analyzed concerns 96,800 companies, had a more contained decline in revenues than srl in general (-8.5%). The value of the productionon the other hand, it fell by 6.6% and the added value by -8.4%, in line with what was recorded on average by all the srl.

From an examination of the revenue at a geographical level, it emerges that the Srl of the Center recorded the greatest decline (-10.9%) compared to the other areas. In particular, the South (-2.3%) shows the smallest decrease, followed by the North East (-6.1%) and the North West (-6.9%). By focusing on scope regionalthere were very high decreases in turnover in Lazio (-12.2%) and in Tuscany (-10.2%), while Puglia (+ 0.3%) is the only region to show an increase in turnover. In South, the Islands recorded lower reductions than the national average, in particular Sicily (-2.5%) does better than Sardinia (-3.2%). Among the southern regions, Basilicata (-2%) marks the best result, while Abruzzo (-8.9%) shows the largest decrease in turnover. Campania also shows a relatively low decrease (-2.7%) followed by Molise (-4%) and Calabria (-4.2%).

In northwest, Lombardy (-7.2%) shows a greater decline than Piedmont (-6.8%) and, above all, compared to Liguria (-0.2%) which shows an almost zero decline, while the Valle d ‘ Aosta (-8%) shows the greatest decrease in turnover. In North East, Veneto (-5.6%) recorded the smallest decrease in turnover, followed by Trentino-Alto Adige (-6.1%), Friuli-Venezia Giulia (-6.7%) and Emilia-Romagna (-6.8%). In Centerapart from the very negative results of Lazio and Tuscany, Umbria (-4.5%) and the Marches (-6%) show a more contained decrease in turnover.

In terms of individual sectors, the most affected are that of automotive fuel in specialized stores (-24%) and that of specialized wholesale trade (-14.6%), while the only one that is growing is the retail trade. in non-specialized stores (+ 6.2%). In general, the wholesale trade suffered a 6.3% decline in turnover, while the retail trade fell by 6.1%. Negative performance also for the vehicle repair sector (-10.4%). Among the segments that have the greatest impact on the turnover of the entire sector, we point out the more contained decline in the wholesale trade of final consumer goods (-2.9%) and the slightly higher but still lower than the sector average of the wholesale trade. wholesale of food and beverage products (-4.2%).
