will show two games from the NHL conference finals this weekend. On the night between Saturday and Sunday at 03:00, the second game of the series between Carolina and Florida will be shown.
On Sunday evening at 22:00, it’s the second half of Vegas and Dallas. Both matches will be broadcast live on TV2 and Areena.
The Finnish mafia’s day in the NHL playoffs continues early Saturday morning in Vegas. Miro Heiskanen, Esa Lindell, Jani Hakanpää, Roope Hintz and Joel Kiviranta represented by Dallas beat Seattle in the second round match series and now it will face Vegas in the final match of the Western Conference.
In the second round, as usual, there was a strong Finnish performance. However, the big role of the Finns could not be considered very surprising. Especially not that Roope Hintz, who is in a dizzying spring surge, once again rose to the front row. Hintz was clearly the best striker in the completed series.
In the decisive seventh game in Seattle, the liberating opening goal served as a prelude to an important victory.
This has been the spirit of the game in Dallas this past spring. Whenever Dallas has been in a tight spot and needed tough leadership and pure scoring power, Hintz and his chains have stepped up.
A short recap.
After losing the first game of the playoffs on their home ice against Minnesota, Dallas was practically facing a must-win right away. And what was Roope Hintz’s response?
Powers 3+1 for the second game, and the train got back on track.
Dallas lost the three game in Minnesota and was again facing a forced victory: 0+3 from Hintz in the four game. In the victorious game of five, the balance was the same. When Minnesota needed to put the game on the board for good, who was going to start the party with its opening goal: Texas’ most famous nokia.
The dice rolled in the same way in the Seattle series. When the fight started to be decided in earnest, Hintz scored 3+2 in the winning matches, four and five games. When it came time to deliver the final blow in a stalemate, the Dallas mob boss didn’t hesitate to get his hands dirty.
I guess this is generally called leadership.
MVP pace
As a result of all of the above, Roope Hintz has already risen to second place in the points market of the NHL playoffs, only one point away from himself About Connor McDavidwhose time at the spring dances ended on Monday morning.
Here too, it can be noted that Hintz has actually spent 45 minutes less time on the ice than the Canadian star. If the limit is set to ten games, Hintz’s 4.76 points scored per hour played is by far the highest number in the spring in the NHL.
Of the players from other teams who are still participating, the closest you can get is Vegas Jack Eichelwhich is almost a full point (3.82) behind the Finn.
For comparison, let’s mention that Mikko Rantanen the reading in the Stanley Cup spring a year ago was 3.72.
The profit condition of the Finnish center of Tähtipaitat has so far been exceptionally tough, even in a broader perspective. Hintz’s current points per game average (1.46) has only been reached in Finnish NHL history Jari Kurri in 1984, 1985 and 1988.
This really tells you where Roope Hintz is going right now.
Haus even has the all-time domestic points record from the playoffs. If Dallas went to the finals and played even 12 more games, the current scoring average would take Hintz to 36 points. Kurri’s current record is 31 (19+12) pins. The pace could even slow down a bit, and it probably will.
When the relegated players are excluded from the calculations, the Finnish star’s lead over the next ones in the playoff points market is now two, five and seven points. A Finnish player has never won the point exchange of the playoffs, let alone the most valuable player award.
It’s too early to start handing out trophies after two rounds, but Roope Hintz is working on big things right now.
World-class defensive dominance
Of course, Miro Heiskas can’t be forgotten either.
In fact, if you think about early stage MVP candidates, Heiskanen should be on the same page as Hintz. Heiskanen hasn’t put up an exceptionally hard result on the board – like in the bubble in the fall of 2020 – but as the number one defender, his role and importance to all of Dallas’ play cannot be underestimated.
Heiskasen’s average ice time in the last four games alone is 29 and a half minutes.
In Tuesday’s cutoff game, Heiskanen played the most of all players, 32 minutes, had the most tackles (6), blocked a couple of shots, played superior, inferior and in the third period an unimaginable 11 minutes!
Under Heiskanen’s leadership, Dallas left Seattle 5-for-5 in the first sector’s five scoring positions. Heiskanen himself beat two of Seattle’s top forwards in his game (Matty Beniers, Jordan Eberle) with a score of 7–1 for dangerous goal posts.
This is world-class two-way defensive play, which Heiskanen performs for the second time in the NHL playoffs. Three years ago, Heiskanen was the most effective defender in Edmonton’s playoff bubble and third in points.
However, the fact is that Heiskanen’s gestureless playing still does not attract enough attention in North America.
It is equally true – as good a team as Dallas is – that in the future, too, through the two Finnish star players mentioned above, this group’s chances of success will rise and fall.
This also applies to the Vegas series starting on Saturday.
