Juuso Välimäki was put on the transfer list on Sunday and Matias Maccelli may be on the next list of departures, writes Tommi Seppälä, Sports NHL.

The kitchen is closed. Pizzeria Maccell became a concept in Tampere in recent years Matias Maccell shining in Ilves shirt. Right now, the pizza oven seems to have frozen and the kitchen has closed its doors – at least for the time being. Namely, a Turku -based skill striker has drifted to the sideline on the Utah team in Salt Lake City.
On Monday, the club put a Finnish defender, a national team in the NHL in four countries Juuso Välimäki. Now the hot question is: is MacCelli on the list of departures next?
The 24-year-old Maccelli did not fit in the game lineup in the pre-national team break, nor in two subsequent matches. Five of the last ten matches, this has followed the audience.
Given that since the excellent last season, his playing time has fallen by nearly two and a half minutes per match, it could not say that the head coach is not Andrei Tourigny Trust their Finnish player as before. Until last season, the TPS breeder played with an average of more than 16 minutes, now less than fourteen.
The collapse is quite a bit of remembrance of the splendor of the breakthrough season back.
Maccelli beat the team while playing in Arizona 82 games with a handsome 57 (17+40) power points, being the team’s third most powerful player. The current season was supposed to be the next step towards the elite in the Hierarchy of the League League. In the summer, many fell as a sure choice for Maccell for the national team’s top tournament.
Neither of the prophecies was realized.
On the wrong leg on the move
Already the first match of the season made the eyebrows rise when MacCelli was put in the quad chain alongside two handless grits. At least the solution was special and raised the question, how did the coaching come to the solution? How had one of the best players on the team during the summer from the top player to the base chain to the track?
Still, Maccelli started the season moderately. In the first ten matches, six (2+4) power points were created and the game time also increased from the ten minutes of the first match. Still, something seemed to be broken from the start. Maccelli has not been himself.
Which came first, egg or chicken?
Was there something in the summer or in a training camp, whether the player had injury or did the quad-chain command of the fourth chain to make the artistic player’s self-confidence and the joy of the game?
It is only certain that the end result has been something that no one is happy with.
It is clear that 18 (8+10) power points for 52 matches are at all what the club or player expected. For, for example, in the case of deep data, the Evolving-Hockey player card has collapsed from 66 % to 18 % in one year.
The overall reading of the Maccell player card has also plunged from 76 % to fourteen.
In these statistics, players are evaluated through deep data in relation to other players of the same place. If the player card is 75 percentage, this player plays better in that category than 75 % of the other players. Against this background, the overall estimate of the Maccell player card, 14 percent, is a scary reading.
Still, statistics are only statistics, and MacCelli has never been a constant 18 % player. By no means. In fact, after the turn of the year, Maccelli has been the seventh powerful player in his team and the sixth most powerful striker. For goals, the ranking is fourth.
The most worrying is the radical measures of the coaching management. They raise the question of whether there is something else in the background. For example, is there a personal chemistry problem between coaching and a player?
Are the second and third chains playing Michael Carcone, Lawson Crouse or Josh doan Matias Maccell better or more effective players? Are not. Of course, MacCell’s pizzeria – and expectations – are clearly higher than any of the above.
Pizza oven for fire elsewhere?
It is clear that the situation cannot continue indefinitely as seen.
In the previous two seasons, Maccelli beat over a hundred power points on the board and showed that he could play a high-quality NHL game in his personal style. Turku’s investment on the NHL strikers’ feed market for seasons 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 was 53rd. Not bad for a late -wing fourth round reservation.
But has the ski trail finished in Utah?
It’s possible. Maccelli cannot and does not want to stay in the Utah press stand. The club must also understand that the player does not develop in this way. If the closed node in the direction of coaching has already become too tightened, MacCelli, known for his feeding skills, is only a delicious merchandise of its 3.4 million contracts – you would think enough to take on. Especially when the contract is still one year left.
Utah pilot Tourigny is a coach of an old covenant and is definitely on the right thing with the tight lines. However, it is also the case that in order to get the most out of the artist like Maccell, interpersonal skills must be world -class. The stick alone has never worked with players like this.
Perhaps in a new environment, the pizza oven would be brought again.
There are two weeks to expire the transfer threshold.
