Mikko Rantanen and Kaapo Kakko must be put in the same chain. At least the result at Takuu would be more than the current one, writes journalist Jussi Paasi.
Jussi PaasiWrites about the World Championships from Tampere
It’s like a wasp in a glass jar!
Grumpy. Swirls and buzzes. I want to be free. Wants to stab everything that moves.
Such has been the forward of the Lions in the World Cup Kaapo Kako.
From every gesture of Kako, you can see that the 22-year-old from Turku is thirsty for responsibility and success. Wants to let go.
But the result has not come. And that makes the temper grow.
Pain has been an unfortunately familiar feeling for Kako this spring. Those who follow the NHL know what I mean. Spring in New York was anything but easy for Kako.
The Finnish striker played at an excellent level, but in Rangers’ hierarchy he surprisingly fell down. The coaching didn’t trust Kakko, the superiority responsibility shrank, even though the game went flawlessly.
That’s where Kako’s fierce hunger for games comes from.
Who could feed that hunger best in Leijon?
Of course, another distressed Turku resident. Mikko Rantanen.
Rantanen and Kakko are Finland’s brightest stars. The Lions desperately need their power. Especially when the preliminary round of the tournament is over.
So far, Rantanen’s performances in the games have been far from what one of the best ice hockey players in the world is capable of. Nervousness has characterized Rantanen’s playing.
A common note Sakari Manninen and Teemu Hartikainen with has not been found in the first chain so far, except for small glimpses.
Rantanen and Kakko must be put in the same chain. The result should be guaranteed by the factory for both. Or at least a better result than keeping them apart.
And for the third leg, one from Pori, who has NHL experience: Juho Lammikko. Lammikko crumples, sulks and does the dirty work, Kakko and Rantanen get to style.
Do you remember what happened before the World Cup?
When Rantanen’s games in Colorado ended, he immediately called Kako and asked if we were going to the World Championships.
The two quickly made a joint decision. Yes, let’s go to Tampere.
Kako and Rantanen’s common tricks are now also needed in the rink. It’s time to bring the aggrieved people of Turku together.
